A University of Ilorin student, UNILORIN Miss Taofeeqah Oloriegbe, has died four days to her convocation.
The institution confirmed she died on Tuesday.
It was gathered that Oloriegbe was a student of Electrical Engineering and died while preparing for the convocation.
Though information regarding the cause of her death was sketchy as of the time of filing this report, friends of the deceased said she died after a brief illness.
“She only complained about having pains in her hand and later died,” one of her friends said.
Reacting to her death, the Public Relations Officer of the UNILORIN, Mr Kunle Akogun, confirmed the death of the student through a text message.
Akogun said, “The late Oloriegbe, a second class upper graduate, was billed to graduate on Saturday at the 33rd convocation of the UNILORIN. She died on Monday after suddenly taking ill in the process of preparing for her upcoming graduation. May her gentle soul rest in peace.”
The institution’s Students’ Union president, Mr Adebisi Abimbola, who said Oloriegbe’s death was shocking and painful, described her as a gentle, friendly and hard-working student.
He said, “I feel extremely sobered when I heard of her death. We used to be in the same class. She is very jovial, friendly, liberal and decent. I felt very bad that it was very difficult to hold my emotions, I almost cried in public when I heard.
