Four-time Grammy Award winner, Tracy Chapman, has sued rapper Nicki Minaj for alleged copyright infringement.

The 54-year-old is suing the 35-year-old rapper after she stole her evergreen song “Baby Can I Hold You”.

According to TMZ, the lawsuit claimed Nicki Minaj allegedly used ‘half of the lyrics and vocal melody’ of 1988 hit to make her track Sorry.

The gossip magazine said Nicki made ‘multiple requests to license’ Chapman’s song in June and all were denied.

And despite stripping the song off her new album Queen, Sorry was still played on the radio according to the legal filing.

Chapman is asking that the song not be released again and that she also receive damages.

The lawsuit also claimed that Funkmaster Flex played “Sorry” on Hot 97, and lots of Internet users picked up the song and sent it around. It was also played on “The Breakfast Club” with Charlamagne Tha God.

It was further gathered that on the day the song was played, Nicki tweeted, “Sis said no,” which, according to the lawsuit, refers to Chapman’s denial to her request to use “Baby Can I Hold You.”

Nicki and crew pulled the song from “Queen” and tried to make it disappear, but Tracy Chapman says the damage was done.
