COVID-19: Immigration starts local production of customised face masks

The Nigeria Immigration Service has commenced the production of face mask, as one of the safety measures against the spread of the rampaging coronavirus.

The NIS Public Relations Officer, Mr Sunday James, in a statement, on Friday, said the NIS, Kwara State Command initiated the production of the face mask with customized local service colour fabrics.

He stated that NIS Comptroller General, Muhammad Babandede, has lauded the Comptroller, Kwara State Command, NIS, Judith Onyeama, for initiating the production of the face masks.

It could be recalled that the Chairman, Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 and Secretary to the Government of the Fédération, Boss Mustapha, had directed on behalf of the Federal Government, for mass production of face mask using local fabrics which must follow prescribed standard and size to curtail COVID-19 spread.

James said the Kwara State Command came up with the initiative, adding that it has received Babandede’s blessings.
He said the immigration boss is appreciative of the various strides taken by NIS officers and men all over the federation as they work at the frontline of the nation’s entry and exit points to ensure compliance with the Federal Government directives.

James said,

“The Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede congratulated the Comptroller Kwara State Command, Judith Onyeam for initiating the production of face mask with customized local service colour fabrics.

“Kwara State command came up with the initiative which has received the blessing of the Comptroller General of Immigration.’
