While commending the state government on the measures so far put in place to fight COVID-19, GIAIM argued that social distancing and palliatives to some selected households would not be enough to win COVID-19.
The Executive Director, GIAIM, Obinyan Emmanuel, in a statement on Monday, said in addition to the various measures put in place by the government, it was important for the state government to consider the upgrade of all the health facilities and training of health workers.

Obinyan said, “The government needs to upgrade general hospitals in each of the local government areas as well as the deployment of equipment and medical experts to up the testing capacity of the state. Medical experts are of the view that testing is key to winning the war on COVID- 19.
“It is important to note that testing, isolation and treatment are vital in this fight. The state has tried but there is a need to work in these three areas in order to defeat COVID-19 totally.”
