FIBA WOMEN’S WORLD CUP! D’Tigress beat Greece, set up quarter-final clash with USA
Nigeria’s D’Tigress continued their magical run at the 2018 FIBA Women’s World Cup with an impressive 57-56 victory over Greece to advance to the quarter-final.
The game against Greece took place in Tenerife, Spain, on Wednesday.
It was a keenly contested tie which saw the Nigerian side draw the first quarter 15-15. D’Tigress won the second and third quarters 16-11, 17-11 but the Greeks won the fourth quarter 19-9.
Evelyn Akhator recorded a 14 point, 13 rebound performance in the win.

D’Tigress are the first African team to win three World Cup matches in a row.
The team will face the US in the quarter-final on Friday.
With two victories from three games, D’Tigress finished second to group winners Australia who won all their matches.
D’Tigress finished second and were paired against Greece who finished third in their group with just one win in three games in the playoffs to determine who joins the group winners in the quarterfinals.
Otis Hughley’s side were fresh off their moral boosting 75-70 win over Argentina in their last group game.
They did not give into early pressure from the Greeks as the first quarter ended tied at 15-15 for both teams.
