FOR DRIVING THROUGH BANK’S PARK! Mobile policemen allegedly brutalise, injure man in Lagos

Published

Two mobile police officers allegedly brutalised and injured a man for using the ‘in and out’ entrances of a bank at Okota, Lagos State.

WuzupNaija gathered that the victim, one Damilola Durodola, was driving along Okota Road when he veered into the bank’s park to avoid a pothole in front of the bank.

However, when he got to the exit, a mobile policeman, one Justine Ezekiel, attached to the bank accosted him and ordered him to reverse his car.

Durodola said he pleaded with the policeman, but his pleas fell on deaf ears. Instead, the policeman grabbed his clothes and hit his head with a rod, injuring him.

His account…

At around 8:15am on Okota road at uba bank On trying to avoid the pothole and the traffic just in front of the bank, I used the in and out exit at the car park of the bank. The first Mopol officer Justine Ezekiel after getting to the exit came walking to me
Justin Ezeikel, Isolo Police Station

I slowed down so I can just chat with him to plead. He came to stand in front of the car and insisted I reversed back after I had made it out of the exit. I was out of the bank car park when he was still insisting that I went back

I was still playfully pleading with him and he just all of a sudden started banging on the bonnet of my car at that point I came down and told him to stop that have I not begged calmly? He came close to me and grabbed my shirt and started dragging me

I was furious and told him to let go of my shirt and I tried using my hands to disengaged from holding on to my shirt but he would not let go. I entered into my car with him still holding my shirt. I told him to let go of my shirt while I was trying to move

Few minutes later from nowhere another Mopol coming down from a bike holding an iron rod and a gun came to the scene and whooped off my side mirror with the iron rod came to the front of the car to smash my bonnet and I came down to stop him from doing further damages to my car and he all of a sudden used the same rod to smash my eyes and burst my eyelids. At that point, a spectator saw what was happening and got involved in d situation and this policeman corked his gun and pointed it at me saying he would shoot me

I knelt at his feet with blood dripping down my cheeks and told him to please kill me as he has done serious damage to my face already. I was rounded by other policemen who starting making statements that I was assaulting a uniformed man and dey kept dragging me by my trouser

lamented and shouted and the Spectators around heard my voice and came to take me from the police custody I was in seeing that the situation was changing hand to me becoming the culprit

—–End of Dami’s account——-

Dami is recovering as we speak…thank God for the good citizens who intervened and stopped this assault from going any further. I find it rather appalling that those meant to keep and safeguard us are the same ones who constitute the most potent threat to our well-being…
