HE RECKLESSLY FIRED HIS GUN! Police arrest officer for killing Iree Polytechnic student during Sallah Fest in Iwo

The Police in Osun have arrested an officer of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad for allegedly shooting to death a student of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree during Sallah Fest in Iwo town.

Wuzup had earlier today reported that Nafiu Babatunde Ayodele was shot dead on Wednesday by a SARS officer, identified as Gbadamosi Lukman.

In a statement on Friday, the head of Police Public Complaint Rapid Response Unit, ACP Abayomi Shogunle, said the policeman involved in the shooting had been arrested.

He wrote,

The policeman involved in the shooting that led to the unfortunate death of a man at Ajangbala Eleha, Iwo Town yesterday 23.08.2018 has been identified and arrested.

The said officer is in custody and homicide investigation is ongoing. The Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command is also meeting with relatives of deceased and the community.

On the circumstances surrounding Ayodele’s death, Wuzup Naija gathered that he was killed by a stray bullet when Lukman recklessly fired his gun.

The deceased was said to have left his base at Oluponna to attend the event.

However, towards the end of the Festival, while waiting at the junction for a bike man to take him home, he was hit by a bullet.

The SARS operatives were said to have stormed the event and started shooting sporadically, then later fled the scene.
