#JusticeforJemima: Accident victims were not asked to present police report, Twitter user claims
Contrary to claims by the brother of one of the accident victims who died after allegedly failing to present a police report at the Nigerian Air Force hospital in Jos, Plateau State, a Twitter user has said the narrative is false.
One Othniel Anselm had taken to Twitter to narrate how his sister Jemima, her friend Jennifer and a tricycle rider died after they were crushed by a drunk driver on Sunday morning.
While the Keke rider died at the accident scene, Othniel alleged that efforts to save the lives of the girls became futile because they were rejected at the Air Force hospital for failing to present a police report.
He also alleged that the driver who hit the tricycle is about to be released by the police without trial.
The story has since gone viral on social media and has sparked a series of criticisms. Nigerians demanding justice for the ladies are tweeting with the hashtag #JusticeForJemima which is presently trending at number one spot on Twitter in Nigeria.
Following the uproar generated by the incident, a Twitter user identified simply as Oluwafifunmi who claimed his father is an Air Force officer in Jos said the claims made in the story were not true.

He added that he has called his father who has also confirmed the incident from the hospital management but they claimed no police report was demanded before the ladies could be treated.
He tweeted:
“So after reading the #justiceforjemima story and found out the Nigerian Air Force Hospital mentioned (even though it was given a wrong address) is close to home. So I called my dad (an Air Force Officer) briefed him and asked him if police reports are needed and he says they aren’t needed.
“His reply in quote, “Even alleged robbers with gunshot wounds are not rejected, not to talk of accident victims.” So he calls the commander of the hospital to ask if there was an emergency case like that. The commander tells him there was but that there was no request for a police report. The patient was referred to the Plateau State Hospital because it lacked the capacity to handle the case. Yes, while I truly and sincerely sympathise with the bereaved, I would also say blackmailing isn’t also a virtue.
“I do not know about the situation of the Nigerian Police trying to grant bail for the alleged culprit of the committed crime but for the Nigerian Air Force Hospital asking for a police report before treatment is administered is almost unlikely.”
Another Twitter user who claimed to be one of the deceased ladies’s sister confronted Oluwafifunmi over his claims that no police report was requested by the hospital:
She tweeted:
Stop saying things you don’t know. Jemima is my sister and they clearly rejected her and Jennifer. Jemima died on the way to the second hospital, while Jenny died while being administered to.

He responded:
“I’m sorry for your loss.
“I’ll ask these questions Where you there? Was a police report asked for? If it was, then I agree she was rejected.”
