One month ‘internship’ with my family or…, lady reveals marriage condition man gave her
A Nigerian lady has revealed the condition her former boyfriend who promised to marry her gave her before considering walking down the aisle.
In a thread of tweets via her Twitter handle @Kylareetarh, the lady said the man told her she must spend some time with his parents in the village and his elder sister in Lagos.
According to the lady, the man said this was necessary because her family needed to assess her if she is ‘good wife material.’
She was reacting to a tweet about how men set standard for ladies they are yet to marry as their wives.
She tweeted:
“One guy that wanted to marry me sometime ago told me I will have to go stay with his sister in Lagos or his mum in the village for 1month, for them to know my character (wife material).
“I asked him of my job and he said I’ll have to resign if I want the marriage to hold wanted me to go to his sisters place, wake up early in the morning prepare her kids for school, sweep and clean the house, cook for them, wash thier clothes, take care of the house and the kids watch his sister go to work, for his sister to know if I can make a good wife and mother
“Or go to his village and stay with his mum to sweep large compound, pound fufu, cook with firewood, and start washing black kettle and pot to know if I’m a wife material, for 1month.”
Another lady who shared a similar experience tweeted via her handle @iamTonitones:
He basically wanted me to give up my my lifelong dream and career that I’ve spent years building with sweat and tears,
so we could be ‘hanging out’.
He didn’t understand why I wasn’t over the moon at the idea. ?
