Oshodi residents mob policeman as colleagues flee accident scene [Video]
A video of some residents brutalising a police officer in Oshodi area of Lagos is making the rounds on social media.
It was gathered that the incident occurred around Ile-film junction at Orile along Oshodi road.
According to an eyewitness who shared the viral videos on Twitter on Thursday evening, the officer and his colleagues allegedly hit a woman with the patrol van.
While his colleagues reportedly fled the scene to escape mob action, the unfortunate officer was apprehended by the angry residents who pounced on him and started hitting him.
In the footage, a man was appealing to the mob to stop hitting him as the policeman was also begging for mercy.
The Twitter user who shared the video wrote:
Happening right now at oshodi.. I’m yet to get the full True gist but from what I gathered about 3 to 5 policemen drove carelessly and hit a woman around ile-film junction on oshodi road and then took to their heels for what reason I don’t know.
One of the other police man who ran away got caught few minutes later and was brought back to the crime scene on a bike (OKADA) accompanied by the man who chased after him. Upon arriving at the scene and alighting the bike he received blows briefly to his body by the angry mobs.
“I got carried away filming that I forgot that I wasn’t even recording. A man advised the angry touts and mobs Who were ready to do the unimaginable to the police men not to. Boys were ready to beat those police officers to pieces.

“Okada riders were waiting to have their own pound of flesh, negative emotions was just flowing towards those police men. Coming back to where the accident happened I didn’t see the injured woman nor the police vehicle involved so I can’t say about her.”
