Oyo government appoints ‘Auxiliary’ as chairman transport management committee
The Oyo State government, on Monday, inaugurated a committee to manage motor parks in the state as part of plans to boost Internally Generated Revenue.
A former chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the state, Lamidi Mukaila popularly known as Auxiliary was named Chairman, while Alhaji Tajudeen was named the Secretary.
According to the government, it’s a move to boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) in the state.
Nigerian Tribune reports that the Commissioner for Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport, Professor Raphael Afonja, charged the managers to discharge their duties without any fear while speaking at the launch.
Auxiliary was convicted by Oyo State High Court in 2016 for conspiracy to murder
Justice Eni Esan sentenced the former NURTW chair and three others to six years imprisonment over the charge.
