Oyo records four new COVID-19 cases, total now 73

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has announced that the state recorded four new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total confirmed cases to 73.

Governor Seyi Makinde, who doubles as the Chairman of Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force, gave the update on his verified Twitter handle on Wednesday night.

According to him, four test results came back positive late on Wednesday.

Makinde wrote,

“The COVID-19 confirmation tests for four suspected cases came back positive, today (Wednesday). Two more COVID-19 cases were also confirmed late last night. So, the total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State as at 10.30pm today (Wednesday), is 73.”

The governor urged those who are down with fever, cough, tiredness and shortness of breath, who have yet to take a test to register with the Emergency Operations Centre on the dedicated telephone numbers for the ongoing drive-through/walk-through testing at Adamasingba Stadium, Ibadan.

He added,

“People who believe they could have come in contact with a COVID-19 case in Oyo State; people with COVID-19 symptoms: cough, fever, tiredness, body ache and shortness of breath; people with respiratory disease symptoms; healthcare workers who have been in contact with the high-risk groups, above should go for test.”

The governor also urged the residents of the state to call the Emergency Operations Centre on the dedicated telephone numbers, if they notice travellers from other states arriving in their communities.
