PEOPLE MAGAZINE! Idris Elba named the Sexiest Man Alive
Idris Elba has won the title of People’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2018.
The 46-year-old actor, best known for his roles in The Wire, Luther, and Beasts of No Nation, made an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon via satellite from London, in order to reveal his newly crowned status.
Elba is the 33rd hunk to receive the People magazine honour, which was announced Monday night on NBC’s “The Tonight Show” by host Jimmy Fallon.

In reaction to the recognition, the “Thor” star said he’s “really happy with that one. My mum is going to be very, very proud.” Elba flashed a shy smile at Fallon’s request, flexed his bicep and thanked the magazine.
“I was like, ‘Come on, no way. Really?’” he told the People magazine.
“Looked in the mirror, I checked myself out. I was like, ‘Yeah, you are kind of sexy today.’ But to be honest, it was just a nice feeling. It was a nice surprise — an ego boost for sure.”
Elba is one of a small handful of people of colour to receive the accolade since the inaugural “Sexiest Man Alive” spread in 1985, including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (2016) and Denzel Washington (1996).
Past winners have included David Beckham, Chris Hemsworth, Adam Levine, Channing Tatum and Blake Shelton.
