SIX YEARS AFTER KILLING NEIGHBOUR! 24-yr-old Abubakar Idris Danhabu sentenced to death by hanging

A Kano high court sitting in Miller Road has sentenced 24-yr-old Abubakar Idris Danhabu to death by hanging for killing his neighbour Shazali Mahmood.

The convict was said to have committed the crime on 30th December 2012 when he used a knife and stabbed the deceased on his chest which led to his death on the spot.

The convict conspired with one Abba Lado, who is now at large, in committing the crime over a disagreement.

Kano Chronicle recalled that the convict was first arraigned on 4th January 2013, for a two-count of criminal conspiracy and homicide contrary to Sections 97 and 221 of the Penal Code law and punishable with death upon conviction.

The plaintiff’s counsel, Barrister Mahmood Balarabe presented five exhibits to the court while the defense counsel, Barrister Kamaludden Yahaya was unable to present any exhibit.

Delivering the judgment, the court presiding judge, Justice Ibrahim Musa Karaye sentenced the accused to death by hanging having satisfied with submission and exhibits presented before the court by the prosecution counsel which proved beyond reasonable doubt that the convict had stabbed the diseased in the chest which resulted to his death.

He said, “The judgment will serve as a deterrent to others.”
