UBEC chairman, daughter released by abductors
The chairman, board of Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Muhammed Mahmood, and his daughter have been released by their abductors, one of Mahmood’s aides have confirmed.
According to reports, Mahmood and his daughter Yasmin were released at about 1:30 pm.
His aide, Hussain Danladi, said no ransom was paid.
Recall that Mahmood and his daughter were abducted along Kaduna-Abuja road on Monday afternoon while travelling from Kaduna to the federal capital territory (FCT).
His driver was shot dead when armed bandits opened fire on the vehicle they were travelling in.
Meanwhile, the Independent reports that a family source confirmed that they raised the sum of N13 million for their release.
The information was gathered in an alleged audio recording of phone conversation between the abductee and his relation called Saleh that took place Monday night.
