Why I stabbed my mother-in-law to death, 36-year-old suspect reveals
Fatima Sani, a 36-year-old woman who stabbed her mother-in-law to death, says she expects no mercy from God and the law of the land.
WuzupNigeria had earlier reported that Fatima stabbed 70-year-old Aishatu Umaru to death on allegations she instigated her husband, one Sani Umaru, to divorce her.
The incident happened in Mashegu Local Government Area of Niger State. Speaking to newsmen in Minna, the state capital on Tuesday, Fatima said,
“Since I came to that family I have not known anything called peace, every day is punctuated with her trouble. There is nothing I will do to please her and I decided to stab her to death so that everything will be over,”
adding,
“I know I have done something that even Allah will not forgive me but let the law take its cause. Since she does not want me to have peace in my matrimonial home Allah will not let her free.”
WuzupNigeria gathered that Fatima of Gobirawa village in Mashegu and her husband had a misunderstanding on 23 April 2020. The misunderstanding eventually made the husband divorce her, a development which she blamed her mother-in-law for.
Acting on her anger that the mother-in-law, with whom she had irreconcilable misunderstanding prompted the divorce, Fatima ambushed her and stabbed her to death.
She was trailed and arrested by a team of policemen attached to Mashegu Division while trying to escape.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun, on Tuesday confirmed the incident, adding that the case is under investigation and the suspect would soon be charged to court.
