Wike lambastes monarch at public event, calls him small boy causing trouble [Video]
A video purportedly showing Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike lambasting some traditional rulers and threatening to depose them is presently making the round on social media.
In the video which has since gone viral on the internet, Wike could be seen humiliating one of the monarchs by calling him a trouble maker.
He was addressing traditional rulers in the state during their quarterly meeting in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
While speaking he pointed at one of them saying:
“Stop shaking your head you, why are you shaking your head?
“You are one of those who are causing problem, they gave you chieftaincy, you are a young boy and you don’t know what to do with it and then when I’m talking you’re shaking your head like this.
“All fake, causing problem everywhere, you just go and wear something that is bigger than you.
“When somebody is looking for power, you’ll think he is an elderly person, very small young man, this boy.
“When I was in school he was running around running errands, now he is wearing Usman Dan Fodio.
“Now he is going to breach protocol, you think by shaking your head I will be happy, all fake, that’s fake.”
The video has since sparked mixed reactions on social media.
The governorship candidate of the APC in 2015, Dr. Peterside Dakuku, described Wike’s action as “demeaning, unbecoming, irresponsible, despicable, unacceptable and unbefitting” for someone who occupies such a dignified office.
Peterside stated that the utterances of Wike represents an all-time low in the history of the state, where a governor can “insult, disgrace, humiliate and depose traditional rulers at will.”
