Wole Soyinka’s son hails Tonye Cole for standing up for his father, knocks social media warriors

It’s been almost a week since Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, and a young man had a brief “face-off” over a seat arrangement aboard an aeroplane.

The incident which has no doubt been over flogged by social-savvy youths and some personalities has continued to spur reactions from fans, family, haters and free thinkers.

While the 84-year-old Nobel Laureate has reacted via an email sent to media mogul, Mo Abudu, his son, Mr Olaokun Soyinka, has also shared his opinion about his father’s “seaspace” brouhaha.

In a lengthy piece posted on his Twitter page, Olaokun Soyinka, unapologetically praised Sahara Group co-founder, Tonye Cole, for standing up for his aged father.

Olaokun, a former Commissioner for Health Ogun State also succinctly lectured some aggressive “social media warriors” who had hauled insults at his father and turned the “seat space” saga to a tragicomic drama.

“So my elderly father mistakenly sat in the wrong airplane seat, & moved when asked.

“It was a non-event until Mr Tonye Cole did an Instagram post about respect.

“I thought I’d write to Mr Cole & share a memory about WS & an airline drama when he was shown great respect indeed,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, WuzupNaija recalls that the first-hand narrative by Tonye Cole, on his Instagram page claimed that the young man refused to be cajoled in other to allow Soyinka seat by the window instead of the aisle which was originally allocated for the latter.
