A yet-to-be-identified woman was apprehended by passersby on Wednesday for attempting to dump her newborn baby inside a gutter in Lagos.
An eyewitness says the woman was nabbed at exactly 10:30am before she could carry out her nefarious act at Ile-Epo bus stop, close to Iyana Ipaja, along the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway, in Lagos.
Some passersby who saw the woman as she was trying to dump the baby inside the gutter raised an alarm and apprehended her.
She was said to have justified her action by claiming that her husband was not giving her proper care.
According to an eyewitness, Wale Ilebiyi, who shared photos from the scene on Instagram,
“The baby was about to be thrown inside a gully by her own mother in front of my office at Ile-Epo bus stop, after Iyana Ipaja, along the expressway, this morning at exactly 10:30, before she was apprehended and taken to Ile-Epo police station.”
The woman dressed in a blue gown looked stressed and unhealthy, her look raised concerns among social media users that she may be suffering from postpartum depression.

“Two things, from one of the pix, she has a brown eye. Either mental issue or mistreated by the baby’s father.”

It was gathered that she has been handed over to the police at Ile-Epo area of Lagos.
