Zlatan Ibile shares throwback photo of his ‘humble beginning’ at MAPOLY

Nigerian rap sensation, Temidayo Omoniyi, popularly known as Zlatan Ibile, warmed the hearts of many Twitter users on Monday evening after he shared a photo of the first major gift he won with his musical talent as an undergraduate.

He was a National Diploma 1, Business Administration student of the Mosshod Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta in Ogun State when he won the car at the age of 19.

He made news five years ago after winning the car prize following his emergence as the winner of the ‘Airtel One Mic Talent Show’ held at the polytechnic’s campus in 2014.

The singer who is presently basking in the euphoria of winning three awards at the African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) held on Sunday at The Bomb Factory, Canton Dallas, Texas, USA, shared the photo to remember his struggling days and also appreciate those who have opened doors for his career.

He shared the photo via his verified Twitter handle with the caption, “I won my first car when I was 19,” and narrated how he struggled with menial jobs before rising to stardom.

He tweeted:

“Before I won this car! I do bricklayer, Cut grass for people land to lay foundation, I work for cold-room for Ikorodu Isawo! 10k per month! I do too many many ! But I thank GOD FOR MY LIFE TODAY.”

“GOD BLESS ALL MY MATES FOR MAPOLY THAT YEAR !! Them still they support me till now !! Them hold me strong !! You wey they Vex na OYO you they.”

Zlatan also thanked Davido, Olamide and Burna Boy for contributing to his success.

“BIG THANKS TO @olamide_YBNL@iam_Davido @burnaboy!! Una contribution for my success no be small !! GOD GO CONTINUE TO THEY ENLARGE UNA OWN COAST TOO!!”

Some former students of the polytechnic who witnessed when Zlatan was the rave of the moment at MAPOLY have camped in the comment section of his tweet to recount his days as a student.
