OJB jeezrel's funeral

OJB Jezreel was one of the best music producers in Nigeria.

He produced songs that remain fresh in the memories of listeners. No wonder he was able to help kick start the careers of some artistes while consolidating careers of others.

Here is a list of artistes whose careers benefited  from OJB’s ingenuity.

1. Tuface Idibia

Innocent Idibia popularly known as  2Baba is one of Nigeria’s most respected artiste. However, his story can not be told without including the efforts of OJB Jezreel.

Shortly after 2face broke his three-man group, Plantashion Boiz, he sought the production prowess of OJB Jezreel who was the hottest music producer in the country at the time for his highly anticipated debut album.

A huge success was recorded setting a yet to be beaten record not just in Nigeria but in Africa! 10million copies in Nigeria alone and 8million copies internationally.

Though the pop star became famous after he was signed on to Banky W’s co-owned music label, Empire Mates Entertainment, OJB revealed that he discovered his talent and even met with Wizkid’s parents to convince them to allow him pursue a career in music.

3. D’Banj

Dapo D’Banj Oyebanjo is one Nigerian artiste who has gone international.

Before the rise of Mo’hits, D’Banj released his first set of songs “Kiss Me Again” ft. Ruggedman, “One More Time” and “Gba Si Be” ft. Abounce on OJB’s Silver Tones’ imprint.  All those tracks were produced by OJB.

4. Durella

Oluwadamilare “Durella” Okulaja, whose style is very close to D’Banj’s met with OJB for the production of his hit single ‘Wiskolo Wiska’ a hard hitting club track.

The song was Durella’s breakout song and it received massive play and shot Durella to the top at the time.

5. Rugged Man

Michael “Ruggedman” Stephens, had been in the underground scene for years before meeting with OJB at his Silver Point Studios to record the classic ‘Ehen’ diss track featuring Nomoreloss.
Ruggedman’s debut album titled ‘Thy Album Come’ featured production from OJB and other Silver Point associate producers.

 6. Azadus

OJB Jezreel’s masterclass production and ear for potential radio hit songs were one of the many reasons why he was courted by almost everyone in the industry in the early 2000s.

Olalekan “Azadus” Fadeyi’s hit song ‘Madam’ was beautifully crafted and produced by OJB with a groovy beat the dancing feet could not resist.

7. Nomoreloss

Olumuyiwa “Nomoreloss” Osinuga was a good friend and close associate of OJB Jezreel before his death earlier in 2016 after a protracted illness.

Nomoreloss’ biggest hit songs ‘Let them say’ and ‘Iyawo Asiko back when he was at the peak of his career, were produced by OJB.

‘Let them say’ was a sample of one of Ebenezer Obey‘s songs that spurred people to do their own things regardless of what the society was saying.

8. Jazzman Olofin

If there was any producer in Nigeria that could have helped Jazzman Olofin ‘Raise the roof’, it had to be OJB Jezreel.

Jazzman sang his way to limelight and stardom when he released his club-friendly hit ‘Raise the roof’.

There was practically no club nor party that did not try to ‘raise the roof’ with this particular song.

OJB also produced other hit songs for Jazzman before his career hit a descending curve.

9. Joel

Joel Amadi was tipped to be the next 2face Idibia when he was signed by Kennis Music record label.

It doesn’t take a good eye to see a kind of uncanny resemblance of 2face in Joel, who also coincidentally sings just like the African Queen crooner.

Perhaps in the quest to tread along 2face’s path to greatness, Joel also worked with OJB Jezreel for the production of some of his songs.

One of them which became an instant radio hit is titled Fade Away.’

10. Esther

the production of Esther Igbekele Iwalesin’s Agbara Jesu proved that the late producer could work with any tune. OJB Jezreel was a versatile producer of music.
