AFTER 10 DAYS! Buhari returns from London (Photos)

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday returned from his 10-day working visit to London.

He arrived at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport on Saturday evening.

While he was in London, Professor Yemi Osinbajo acted in his stead.

The President, who departed Nigeria for the United Kingdom on August 3, is expected to preside over a meeting with the security chiefs on Monday.

Prior to his trip, President Buhari had handed over power to the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, in acting capacity while he was away.

 

This medical trip made it the third in 2018 alone, the first being the nine days visit just before the recent Commonwealth Heads of government meeting in that country and the second, during the “technical stopover” in London on his way to Nigeria from his recent visit to the United States on the invitation of President Donald Trump.

Before taking off in London, President Buhari had put a call through to President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana, to sympathise with him on the death of former Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), Kofi Annan.

He noted the strategic influence of the diplomat in global affairs and his vision for the repositioning of the West Coast and Africa.

President Buhari also said that the exceptional leadership roles, humanitarian spirit, and contributions of the former UN chief to global peace and development would remain permanent in global history, especially his commitments to combating HIV/AIDS in Africa and launch of the UN Global Compact.

Mr Annan died on Saturday morning at the age of 80 in Switzerland after a brief illness.
