2023 presidency: Amaechi has committed political sin, he must repent and seek penance – Ohanaeze Ndigbo

Published

Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, has lambasted the Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, for his alleged comment that Igbo may not produce the president in 2023.
Ohanaeze asked Amaechi to repent from trading his people for political gain, adding that no Hausa or Yoruba man can trade his people for political appointment.
Mr. Amaechi had told one of the national dailies in an interview that South East have nothing to bring to the table to ask for the presidency in 2023.
“I don’t know what they will do now for voting against the APC. For refusing to support the APC, they cannot come to the table to demand the presidency slot.
“For people like us in the APC, if the Igbo had come and voted Buhari, they would boldly tell Mr President and the National Chairman of the party that presidency should go to the South East since the South-South; South West and North West have produced president. What argument would the South East come up with now to convince anybody that they deserve the slot for 2023 president?”
But the Igbo apex body while reacting in a statement issued by its Deputy Publicity Secretary, Mr. Chuks Ibegbu, on Sunday said “it’s Igbo turn in 2013.”
Ohanaeze said by making such sacrilegious statement, Amaechi had committed a political sin and he must make an atonement, otherwise he should relocate to Daura.
“Amaechi has committed political sin by saying that Igbo may not produce president in 2023. He must repent and seek penance for that spiritual sin against his race,” he said.
While Ohanaeze wondered what put Amaechi whom it tagged ‘Rotimi Daura’, said that he had practically neglected the East in the rail pject and asked him to relocate to Daura if he is no longer an easterner.
“Whether Igbos voted for Buhari or not its very unfortunate that some Igbo political actors that want appointment or to climb up will simply abuse, insult and castigate his own people so that the powers that be will see him as a good boy.
“But such people are traitors actually. No Hausa or Yoruba politician will say the kind of thing Rotimi Daura said.
“He is looking for reappointment by Buhari so he needed to abuse his race to achieve that.
“Is he Rotimi Daura less qualified to be Nigeria President? It’s not only him. The other day Victor Oye and even Okorocha abused us with Igbo money he enjoyed for eight years. It’is too bad,” the statement reads.
