Veteran comedian, Atunyota Alleluya Akporobomerere, popularly known by his stage name, Ali Baba, has advised the President Buhari administration to invest the $322 million recovered Abacha loot wisely.

Ali Baba said he would transform the National Theatre within three years if given the Abacha loot the Federal Government wants to share to poor Nigerians.

Given an intelligent breakdown the comedian said he will use the money to turn the National Theatre in Lagos into a “world class Formula 1 circuit”, adding that after investing in the project, he will return the capital to the government.

In a series of post on his Instagram page, the ace comedian proffered some solutions that the government can infuse to empower youths to be entrepreneurs adding that he should build institutions that can ignite aspirations.

Ali Baba also asked if Buhari is using this as an electoral campaign strategy? stressing that he should build institutions that can ignite aspirations.

The ace comedian said that Federal Government’s planned sharing of the Abacha loot “will not make Nigeria great.”

Ali Baba wrote:

“I have a proposal for the federal government. Instead of (sharing) the Abacha loot, give me the money, let’s (transform) the National Theatre, Lagos, to a world class F1 circuit and create many opportunities from that place, and in (three) years we can still give you back this same amount you are about to share.

“Because if you share this money, it will go down the drain. If you give it to me, I will give it back to you in 3yrs and you can go on and share the same amount.

“And think about it, if it was shared would it be available to be shared now? About the same size of land is what is now a tourist attraction in Abu Dhabi… with multi-economic dynamics. Sharing the money will not make Nigeria great. It will kill our already dying economy.

“That is why states like Zamfara, Gombe, Taraba, Jigawa… and so on that have Governors that live the Governors of states where money is generated. Going by the IGR of some states, the governors should be using UBER.

“Some should actually be confined to Keke Napep… until they can generate internal revenue that can make them afford the lifestyle that they so wish. Just imagine. The loot that should be invested, in a business is now going to be shared.

“Is that wisdom or an electoral campaign strategy? I don’t get it. Build institutions that can ignite aspirations. Stop quenching the life of monies that are in your hands. Invest the money. The Parable of the Talents says that much.

“My point was that sharing the money that should be used for development of any sector will NEVER MAKE THAT SECTOR GROW. use the money to create an enabling environment and for capacity building. Did the stakeholders agree? Noooooo.

“In fact subsequently when the further meetings to the discussions were held, I was not invited. I heard GEJ asked after me, he was told I couldn’t make it. Anyway, My point was made though:

“Mr President, just apply $50m of that $200m you wish to share towards Fighting piracy and you will see the entertainment sector blossom into a value chain that will rival oil revenues.

“Set up an anti-piracy mobile squad, put an AIG of police with a law degree to oversee the squad”. No one listened. Money was shared. About a year later, some of those same people who told me to go sit down, called me to come to join them on an Anti Piracy protest to Alausa. I didn’t listen.”
