Though Manchester City will have to take on Borussia Moenchengladbach tonight after their group C match which was scheduled to hold on Tuesday was brought forward to Wednesday due to adverse weather in Manchester.

Other matches football fans would be looking forward to watch tonight are:

Group E
Bayer Leverkusen vs CSKA Moscow

Tottenham Hotspur vs Monaco

Group F
Legia Warszawa vs Borussia Dortmund

Real Madrid vs Sporting CP

Group G

Club Brugge vs Leicester City

FC Porto vs FC Koebenhavn

Group H

Juventus vs Sevilla

Lyon vs Dinamo Zagreb

With a couple of hours before hostilities begin at various stadia, WuzupNaija brings to you 5 things you need to look out for in today’s fixtures:

1. Man City vs Gladbach: Gladbach will be without Patrick Hermann, who picked up a hamstring injury in the defeat at Freiburg at the weekend. While Manchester City could welcome Ilkay Gundogan into their squad for the first time since joining from Borussia Dortmund in the summer. Sergio Aguero should return to the City starting line-up, despite being one game into a three-match domestic suspension.

The Pep Guardiola’s side are favourites to win the match judging by their 100% record in all competitions, which includes their impressive 2-1 win at Old Trafford in last Saturday’s Manchester derby.

Andre Schubert’s Gladbach, by contrast, have had a mixed start to the season. An emphatic 9-2 aggregate win over Young Boys was followed by an impressive 2-1 opening day Bundesliga win over Bayer Leverkusen. But a second half collapse at Freiburg last weekend led to a morale-sapping 3-1 defeat – not the ideal preparation for a Champions League group that includes Barcelona, Celtic and Man City, of course.

2. Tottenham Hotspur vs Monaco: These two teams met each other for the first time in last season’s Europa League group stage, with Spurs winning 4-1 at White Hart Lane. Although the Tottenham manager will be without Danny Rose, who is still recovering from a knock suffered on England duty, Moussa Dembele will be available for Spurs to face Monaco.

Dembele has missed the first four games of the campaign due to a domestic ban carried over from last season.

Monaco have started the season well and look like a pretty solid unit, winning 4-1 at Lille at the weekend after convincingly beating Paris Saint-Germain 3-1.

It is worthy to note that eight of Monaco’s last nine Champions League goals have been scored in the second half. Mauricio Pochettino’s lads will have to be beware.

3. Read Madrid vs Sporting CP: Both teams have a 100% record in their respective domestic leagues, but will be hoping to start their European campaign well in a tough Champions League group. The Portuguese side finished runners up in the Primeira Liga last season, and should provide Zinedine Zidane’s side with a tough opener.

The hosts have scored 10 goals in their opening three La Liga matches. Taking anything away from this tie will be a tough task for the visitors.

4. Club Brugge vs Leicester City: Last season’s surprise Premier League winners make their debut in the competition tonight when they travel to Belgium to face Club Brugge. The Foxes are 50-1 to win Europe’s most prestigious cup competition. New record signing Islam Slimani could make his Foxes debut.

Brugge are taking part in their first Champions League group game for a decade. The Belgian champions have endured an underwhelming start to the season. Michel Preud’s side find themselves tenth in the 16-team Jupiler Pro League after three defeats in their opening six matches, the most recent of which came against the unfancied Waasland-Beveren on Friday.

5. Juventus vs Sevilla: Both Juve and Sevilla are coming off wins over the weekend in their respective domestic competitions, and both have a lot to prove as Champions League new-comers and perennial runner-ups.

Sevilla will be without star player Samir Nasri through illness, one of two players out with injury alongside Benoît Trémoulinas who has succumbed to a knee problem.

The third omission from the side is French defending midfielder Timothée Kolodziejczak, who is serving a suspension.

For Juve, the Italians also have a pair of injuries to deal with. Both Claudio Marchisio and Stefano Sturaro have been ruled out with knee injuries.

Juventus may have lost Paul Pogba to Man United in a record transfer deal, but their trade period was very successful, picking up big names like Gonzalo Higuain, Miralem Pjanic and Medhi Benatia.
