65-year-old ex-cop, one other arraigned for defiling 10-year-old girl in Ebonyi

The Ebonyi State Police Command has arraigned 65-year-old retired police officer, Christopher Idam and Okah Chukwu, for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl.

They were arraigned on two counts charges bordering on defilement and unlawful sexual intercourse with the minor, on Friday, August 23, 2019, before Abakaliki Magistrate Court.

Recall that Idam, a retired Deputy Superintendent of Police, was arrested by the Ebonyi State Police Command for allegedly raping a 10-year-old pupil.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Mbam Chinedu, told the court that both Idam and Chukwu, committed the offences at Amachara Ezeke village, in Amasiri Community, in the Afikpo North Local Area of Ebonyi State, on Sunday, August 18, 2019.

According to him, the offences are punishable under section 34 (2) of Ebonyi State Child Right Law Related Matters 2010.

A charge sheet with number: MAB/587/C/2019 signed by the Investigative Police Officer, Maureen Utum, read,

“That you Christopher Idam ‘m’, on the 18th day of August, 2019 at Amachara Ezeke Amasiri Afikpo North in the Jurisdiction of this Honorable court did have unlawful sexual intercourse with one Amarachi Mbe ‘f’, aged 10 years, and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 34 (2) Ebonyi state Child Right Law and Related Matters 2010.

“That you Okah Chukwu ‘m’, sometime in 2019 in an open shop at Orie Amasiri Market Afikpo North LGA in the Jurisdiction of this Honorable court did have unlawful sexual intercourse with one Amarachi Mbe ‘f’, aged 10 years, and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 34 (2) Ebonyi state Child Right Law and Related Matters 2010.”
