A CELEBRATION OF AFRICAN CULTURE! Femi Kuti, Yemi Alade to perform as Macron visits Afrika Shrine
Afrobeat ace music artiste, Femi Kuti, and Afropop singer, Yemi Alade, will perform on Tuesday when French President Emmanuel Macron visits the New Afrika Shrine in Lagos State.
Macron is expected to attend an event tagged ‘A Celebration of African Culture’.
He will also announce the launch of the Season of African Cultures 2020 in France, as part of a cultural event organised by TRACE.
With the planned visit, Macron will be the first real “president” to visit a place synonymous with marijuana smoke, sexy backup dancers and protest music.
The evening will feature concerts, fashion shows by leading African designers and a meeting with stars from Nigeria’s booming Nollywood film industry.
Macron is currently visiting the Mauritanian capital Nouakchott to attend an African Union summit, from where he will go to Nigeria.
Several VIP guests, including representatives from the African creative and arts sectors, have been invited to attend the multicultural event.
A Nollywood movie scene will also be filmed live on the night by Kunle Afolayan, a renowned film director, the Cable reports.
Charlotte Dipanda, a Cameroonian superstar singer, is also expected to perform at the event.
