The Nigeria detention system is no doubt one of the worst in the world. From the Police cell to the medium and maximum prisons now repackaged as correctional centers, it’s a nightmare.

Everything about the Nigerian detention centers will give anyone detained there worst experience of his life. Those who have been there always have terrible tales to share upon their return.

WuzupNigeria reported a few months ago how a man detained in a correctional center shared a gory tale of his stay at the facility. From the South to the Northern part of Nigeria, the story is not different, a police cell or a correctional center is not where anyone would wish to spend a night.

This is why many social media users were amazed when a police officer shared photos of a new cell in Kano State. Many are still doubting what they saw, it couldn’t be a cell in a police station in Nigeria, some argued.

@Elkaybaba took to his Twitter page on Tuesday and shared the photos which have since gone viral and kept netizens busy talking about the unusal police cell.

“This is not a student hostel This is not a hotel room.

“This is a police cell in kano. Things like this give hope for a better policing in this country insha Allah. Police is your friend.”

The cell has two small mattresses that look like a student bed, neatly arranged in a clean room with a red rug. It is a sharp contrast from the regular Nigerian cell where inmates sleep, eat and defecate in a room without proper ventilation, no humane system for defecating.
