Abacha keeps sending us alert from hell, Nigerians react to newly discovered £211m loot
Reports of newly discovered loot valued at £211,000,000 stocked in a Jersey bank account in Channel Island by former military dictator General Sani Abacha, set Nigerian social media alight on Tuesday.
WuzupNaija reports that the money was put in accounts held in Jersey by Doraville Properties Corporation, a British Virgin Islands company, Metro UK reports.
It was gathered that the former Head of State laundered the money through the US into the Channel Islands which has now been recovered.
The report further stated that the money is now being held by the UK government until authorities in Jersey, the US and Nigeria agree on how it should be distributed.
Recall that a few years ago, the Federal Government received $322 million Abacha loot from Switzerland, which it is now distributing through the Social Investment Programme to poor Nigerians.
The report of the newly discovered loot sparked a series of hilarious reactions from Nigerians on Twitter who have described the former military head of state as a ‘legend‘ who should be ‘immortalised‘
Some also described Abacha as the regular funder of Nigeria’s annual budget who always show up with ‘credit alerts’ whenever the nation is gasping for funds.
See some of the reactions:
Time has come for us to immortalize Abacha. He stole that we may live.
Like a visionary squirrel, he stashed away the loot in dark and faraway places where the sun won’t shine on them. What a man!
211 million pounds sterling just popping up after 20 yrs? Genius. I say, genius.

I remember this story about Abacha’s wife saying no matter how much money the FG seizes from them, they can never be as poor as Dangote… It appears that statement is true afterall…

Yet @MBuhari said “Abacha never stole”. Are Abacha and Buhari the people Pastor Kumuyi said we shouldn’t “attack”. It‘s because we were not attacking Abacha that the bloodthirsty buffoon stole a lot and killed so many Nigerians #FreeLeahSharibu #RenosDarts https://t.co/jm07GaJ61q

The problem is that his family isn’t sensible enough to have me keep some for them. No one would look for Abacha’s loot in my bank account. Think about it. Just think. https://t.co/sSwuH1uFlN
