Abia Assembly inaugurates 7th House as Orji’s son becomes speaker

The 7th Abia State House of Assembly was Monday inaugurated with Hon. Engr. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji of Umuahia East state constituency (PDP) as its Speaker.

Other principal officers of the House include Ifeanyi Uchendu (PDP) (Deputy Speaker), Solomon Akpulonu of Obingwa East (PDP) (Majority Leader) and Munachim Alozie of Ugwunagbo (PDP) (Chief Whip).

Others are Abraham Oba of Aba Central (APGA) (Minority Leader), Paul Taribo of Ukwa East (PDP) (Deputy Majority Leader) and Chukwu (Chijioke of Bende North ( APC) (Deputy Minority Leader).

In his inaugural speech, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji pledged that at all times, he will do his best and will not disappoint Abians.

He assured that the 7th Abia House of Assembly will be vibrant, result-oriented, will provide sound oversight functions and will be people-oriented.

Speaking after the inauguration, a commissioner nominee and immediate-past commissioner for information, John Okiyi Kalu expressed his excitement over the inauguration, adding that the executive arm of the government did not play any role in the emergence of the new Speaker.

Also speaking, the State Chairman of All Progressive Congress, Hon. Donatus Nwankpa. advised the 7th House to be focused, committed and make good laws.

Rt. Hon Chinedum Orji is the 11th Speaker of Abia House of Assembly.
