The tweets read;
“Accidental discharge kills 2 soldiers. We deeply regret to announce the death of 2 soldiers of 192 Battalion who lost their lives as a result of an accidental discharge during in-theatre training today.
“The Chief of Army Staff has directed the Commander 26 Brigade Gwoza to immediately constitute a board of inquiry to unravel the circumstances that led to this unfortunate situation.”
However, some Nigerians have criticised the Nigerian army for not revealing the late soldier’s identity.
Some also urged the Nigerian army to share their photos so that their loved ones will identify them ASAP.
Some also claimed that the Nigerian army was covering up some information adding that the circumstances around their death is bizzare.

This highly dismissive of a soldier who threw his life into the rings for this nation. Please mention their names, upload their pictures, show them some respect and appreciate them for the times they showed devotion and loyalty in service. Is Nigeria really worth dieing for?

This story is a big lie., I can prove it to anyone with genuine fact that there was never an AD during the training., they should tell us the truth about what happened to those 2 soldiers and not lie to us with the claim of AD.

We would appreciate names please. To show we honor them as individuals not as numbers. We also would appreciate names of those killed by terrorists.They deserve that honor. Military dogs in the West are recognized by name. May their souls rest in peace. Amen.

The families of the personnel involved have been contacted ever before DAPR made this release.
Stop the busy body.

Good. Then the Nigerian people should know. It’s the right thing to do & not busy body. Its an honor to them. They are humans not numbers. When dad died family knew but we still put up posters and announced it publicly. It’s called honoring the dead. Cheers.

Why train with live bullets when you can train with blanks.
— Ayobhad (@ayobhad) September 20, 2018
Depending on the type of training but we also train with blanks during simulations but during marksmanship training soldiers train with live rounds and the practice is not only done by the Nigerian army a lot of Western militaries do same

Every AK at the RANGE is always on safety lock until the soldier is ready to aim and shot., thereby making an AD that can kill 2 soldiers highly impossible.

Addressing them as ‘two’ does not show respect to them and their families.

You want to know their names right. Just say it. That’s not for you to know. Their families get to know first. That’s how you respect them and their families. Gbeborun

Are their families not supposed to have been informed before the publication of this tweet? Agborodun
