ADP governorship candidate promises to return Plateau IDPs to ancestral homes
Brig. Gen. Jonathan Temlong (rtd), the governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Plateau, has promised to return Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), to their ancestral homes.
Temlong made the promise on Thursday in Jos, during a media forum organized for political candidates by the Correspondents Chapel, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Plateau Council.
He regretted that many families were still in IDPs camps, and promised to engage all stakeholders in the search for peace.
“There cannot be peace where people have been taken away from their ancestral homes,” he pointed out.
Temlong regretted that insecurity had stalled development in Plateau, saying that concerted measures must be put in place to ensure safety of lives and property and fast track development.
‘’Plateau would have been a very good tourist centre but for the insecurity issues we are experiencing.
“We have foreign educators who have established good schools like Hill Crest, Kent Academy and other outfits that attract students nationwide, but the insecurity challenge is discouraging this development,” Temlong said.
He said that the weather of Jos had ensured the massive production of exotic vegetables, and promised to encourage more production so as to export.
