AFTER A ‘RUFF’ YEAR! Rapper DMX set to be released from prison today
American actor and rapper, DMX, will be released from federal prison on Friday after serving a year behind bars for tax evasion.
The ‘It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot’ rapper was sentenced back in March 2018 after pleading guilty to the charge.
His lawyer Murray Richman confirmed the news, saying
“He’s coming home tomorrow. I spoke to him; he’s very happy.
“He’s looking forward to being home. He’s never been hotter than now – people have been seeking him out all over.
The Ruff Ryder rapper, born Earl Simmons, was scheduled for release on January 27. However, the Federal Bureau of Prisons has a policy to release inmates on the weekday before their release date if said date falls during a weekend.
He will reportedly be under supervised release for three years.
Mr Richman added that DMX was ‘terrific’ in jail and didn’t become a target because of his celebrity status.
Though DMX has been in jail, he hasn’t stopped his hustle. Just a month after receiving his sentence, DMX was receiving movie and book deals, and last month announced that he was excited to return to the civilian life as he was planning the release of a new project. The artist has already scheduled a “welcome home” party that will be held at Lotus Lounge in West Haven, Connecticut.
