American singer, Ariana Grande, and Pete Davidson have reportedly broken up and called off their engagement after five months of dating.

Sources close to the couple say the duo both agreed to call it off because it wasn’t the right time for their relationship to take off.

The now ex-couple got engaged in June this year after weeks of dating.

TMZ reports that the duo are not ruling out the possibility of something happening between them in the future.

“It was way too much too soon. It’s not shocking to anyone,” PEOPLE quoted an Ariana Grande source as saying.

Ariana confirmed that she’s gotten engaged to Davidson in June, by replying to her fans on Twitter who’d been congratulating her about the relationship rumours.

However, the news of their breakup has generated mixed reactions on social media from some music enthusiasts, fans and non-fans.

The better part of the comments on their breakup was in support of the singer.

“Honestly all matters to me is Ariana happiness, I know someone precious like her will find the right one someday.”

Sadly many Twitter users appeared unperturbed after the news made the rounds on the internet.

Meanwhile, others were sympathetic of Ariana’s traumatic losses over the last year and a half, which includes the recent death of ex-boyfriend Mac Miller.

Mac Miller died on September 7, from a suspected drug overdose.

Some Twitter users claimed that they saw the break up coming adding that they are not surprised at the news.

Some also mocked the pair using funny memes to describe the five-months failed relationship.

The fan that started the Go Fund Me for the comedian, dubbed Pete Davidson Homeless, seeks to raise $2500.

The tweet which has since been deleted read,

“As you may all know, Pete Davidson and his fiance have recently broken up.

“He will need somewhere to sleep tonight,’ it says inside the information line of the donation site.”

Davidson moved into Grande’s $16million apartment in New York City shortly after they got engaged in May.

The singer was seen flashing a massive pear-shaped engagement ring worth $100,000.
