I will forever remain grateful to Goodluck Jonathan, Nigerian actor, Aki reveals

Popular Nigerian comic actor, Chinedu Ikedieze better known as Aki has in a recent interview disclosed how grateful he will forever be to former Nigeria President, Goodluck Jonathan for changing his life.

In an interview with the Nation Newspaper, the actor stated that he will forever remain grateful to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan for honouring him with a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR).

Aki said the revered national honour which was conferred on him in 2011 has been the greatest surprise he got in his life and career till date.

Narrating how it all happened and how he felt, he said; “It was Aunty Peace Anyiam-Anyiam-Osigwe, the Chief Executive of the AFRICA MOVIE ACADEMY AWARDS (AMAA) who called me that time, sometime in 2010 and told me that I should send my profile and other materials.

“There was a time she mentioned about the national award but my brother, that was the least thing I expected to consume.

At that time I was like how much are my going to be getting from them to my little understanding then. I didn’t pay much attention to it but I submitted the information she required.

“About some months later, somebody called me that I should go and check one of the national dailies that my name was shortlisted for the national award honours, and I was like how, to be honest, I had forgotten that I submitted my credentials.

“I ran quickly to go and get myself a copy of the paper and opened the page and I saw my name, I was no 144 on the category of member of the federal republic, I couldn’t believe it.

“I will be forever grateful to Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for remembering us for the little things that we do, that we were able to change the narrative in the entertainment industry, it was bigger than I could chew.

“I am so grateful and remain forever grateful for his gesture.”

When he realized he achieved fame, the actor and businessman said it was when he made his first million in the year 2003.

In his words; “I couldn’t believe it, I knew that wow this happened, I am sorry I have to be honest I said okay so I have been doing something”.

It could be recalled that in 2007, Aki received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the African Movie Academy Awards and subsequently in 2011, he was awarded the MFR for his immense contributions to Nollywood and to the economic growth of the country.

Tanzanian actress Wema Sepetu has claimed that she was physically assaulted by popular singer, Diamond Platnumz, while they were dating.

According to her, she enjoyed it whenever he beat her up.

As we all know, the pair dated about a decade ago, and in a recent interview with Ijumaa Wikienda, the actress disclosed that one thing she misses about dating Diamond Platnumz was how he used to “beat her up”.

Wema added that despite not fully understanding why she loved to be battered by him, she loved it because he gave her attention thereafter.

She said;

“He would beat me up thoroughly.

“Ironically, I loved it when he battered me, I just don’t know why that was the case. But, I remember he would pamper me after assaulting me, and, I think I loved it because he’d give me attention after the battering. Honestly speaking, I miss being beaten up by him, a lot.

“I remember there was a day he saw a suggestive message on my phone. Out of anger, he gave me a hard slap on the cheek. My siblings came to know that I was a victim of domestic abuse. They pleaded with me to leave him, but I told them that they should leave me alone as I was enjoying being beaten up by him.”

Nollywood’s ‘village headmaster’ Okoro is dead



Village headmaster

Veteran actor, Jimmy Johnson, popularly known for his character as ‘Okoro’ in the 80s NTA TV series ‘The Village Headmaster,’ is dead.

According to Sun News, he passed away this morning at Garki Hospital, Abuja after a brief illness.

He was 80 as of the time of his death.

Pa James gets house gift from Funke Akindele after flood razed his home



Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele has come to the rescue of veteran actor, Kayode Olasehinde ‘Ajirebi’ aka Pa James after flood took over his home.

The actress has now given him a brand new home.

Recall that the house of veteran Nollywood actor, Ajirebi Kayode Olasehinde, located in Oke Isagun community of Oke Odo LGA in Lagos was destroyed by flood after heavy rainfall.

The rain forced a canal to overflow thereby releasing its content into the property of the actor which has become a regular occurrence.

Announcing the kind gesture by Funke Akindele, actress Kemi Korede via Instagram wrote:

“On behalf of PA JAMES, I Want to say Big thank you to @funkejenifaakindele for the new apartment given to him by you. God bless you so much for your good heart. your type is so are a gem. Almighty God will continue to make way for you where there seems to be no way.”

Although she has taken down the post after being instructed by Funke, who enjoys silently helping people, rather than receiving glory on social media for it.
