SAD END! Akwa Ibom man drinks to stupor, goes swimming in Atabong river, drowns
A man, identified simply as Amos, has drowned in Atabong River in Eket, Akwa Ibom State after deciding to take a swim while under the influence of alcohol.
According to reports, the 30-year-old man had on Sunday attended the inauguration of a funeral house in the town, where he drank a huge quantity of alcohol.
After the drinking to his fill, Amos decided to take a cool bath inside Atabong river as he normally does.
Eyewitnesses said he only swam for few minutes and was not seen again.
An alarm was raised to rescue him but he was no where to be found.
His corpse was later spotted on Tuesday.
