ALLEGED CULPABLE HOMICIDE! Melaye leaves hideout, meets Inspector-General of Police
Embattled lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye, has finally left his Abuja residence to meet with the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, at the Nigeria Police Force headquarters.
The senator was holed up in his house in Maitama for eight days in order to escape arrest for alleged culpable homicide.
The lawmaker had been accused of playing an active role in the shooting of one Sergeant Aliyu, who is said to be lying critically ill at the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja.
Police, undeterred and armed with an arrest warrant, had laid siege on the house, threatening not to leave until Melaye, known for the popular phrase ‘If I Die I Die’, is arrested.
However, Melaye’s co-senators who visited him at his residence on Friday went with Melaye to see the Police boss, apparently to resolve his issues with the Force.
Sgt. Aliyu was allegedly shot and injured by suspected thugs loyal to the senator in Kogi State in July, 2018.
