This year’s Osun/Osogbo festival in western Nigeria will come to an end today, August 19, 2016. The annual festival is one of the most popular and most attended festivals in Yoruba land.
People from all over the world gather in the state to worship the goddess of the Osun river (Yeye Osun), who is more prominent for her ability to make barren women conceive and deliver as many children as they desire.
Festivities at this year’s edition is said not to be as flamboyant as previous ones. Many believe it is due to the economic situation in the country.
