La Liga: Ansu Fati hits brace in two minutes as Barça beat Levante

Published

Ansu Fati scored twice in two minutes at the Camp Nou on Sunday night to put Barca 2-0 up against Levante as his side settled for a 2-1 win.

Guinea-Bissau-born Fati, 17, becomes the youngest player to score a La Liga brace this century.

The first goal came on 30 minutes after a brilliant pass from Lionel Messi. Fati raced on to the ball and put the ball between Aitor Fernandez’s legs.

Fati’s second goal came two minutes later and also came from a Messi pass. This time he beat Aitor at his near post with the ball again going through the goalkeeper’s legs.

The goals mean that Fati has now scored five goals for Barcelona this season in all competitions in his first full campaign with the first team.

Levante, however, got a consolation goal in added time through Rubén Rochina and the forward had a chance to snatch an unlikely equaliser moments later but could not keep his shot under the bar.

The victory took second-placed Barcelona to within three points of leaders Real Madrid and ever so slightly eased the pressure on coach Quique Setién after last week’s 2-0 defeat away to Valencia.
