Anthony Joshua makes Tyson Fury stunning offer and the Gypsy King accepts

Published

Fresh from reclaiming the WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles, Anthony Joshua has made his British heavyweight rival, Tyson Fury, an incredible offer and the Gypsy King accepted.

The 30-year-old Nigerian-British fighter offered to go out to America and spar Fury to help get him ready for a heavyweight title clash with Deontay Wilder.

Joshua and Fury are Britain’s two biggest names in heavyweight boxing and both chasing a fight with Wilder – with the Gypsy King set to get there first.

Fury previously said the fight would be in February 2020.

Although that will be a source of frustration for AJ, he was full of praise for Fury and has offered to lend a hand if Fury’s bout with Wilder is confirmed.

‘In terms of skill I rate him highly,’ Joshua told Sky Sports. ‘He’s a real boxing connoisseur. He studies his boxing like I do. He’s around a lot of boxing people.

‘Also, he has some resemblances in movement and style with Muhammad Ali, and the way he talks. I think he might beat Wilder when they fight. I think Fury would fight me quicker than Wilder. If that’s the case I want Fury to win.

‘To have that fight here on British soil… can you imagine? Fury, if you need me for sparring, we’re going to fight one day.

‘I sparred Tyson Fury when we were kids anyway, I would go out to America and spar Fury to get him ready for this Wilder fight, because I think Fury would fight me sooner than Wilder would.’

Reacting to Joshua’s offer, Tyson Fury took to Instagram to reply, saying:

“I just saw a video of Joshua on Sky Sports saying he’d love to come me in camp and that I’d fight him quicker than Wilder – that’s for sure.

“When I beat Wilder I will fight you AJ no problem and I’d love to have you in camp.

“I’d really love to have you in camp for this fight and give Wilder a proper beating.”I hope you mean it because I’d love to have you in training camp. Thanks very much and well done in your last fight, congratulations.”

Joshua also backed Fury to beat Wilder after his countryman was denied victory by the judges when the rivals met 12 months ago.

“I would like that fight because I think Fury would fight me faster than Wilder would,” he added.

“I think he [Fury] might beat Wilder next time. I think Fury would fight me quicker than Wilder would, so if that’s the case I want Fury to win.

“I think to have that fight here on British soil is mad. Can you imagine that?”
