Arsenal players in training awaiting Mustafi

Arsenal are close to sealing the deal on Valencia’s Shkodran Mustafi.

More indication that the deal is almost through was the exclusion of Mustafi from the Valencia squad for Wednesday night’s friendly against the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) All Stars.

A tweet by freelance sport journalist, Ben Fairthorne indicate that the German may be in England Monday to have his Medical with Arsenal, subject to fees agreement.

Reports suggest (subject to a fee being agreed) Mustafi will be in England Monday to have his Medical with Arsenal.

The defender was also pictured on Arsenal’s official IG page training with other players in the club.

Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger put the search for striker on hold in the summer transfer window after defender Paulista Gabriel picked an ankle injury in the friendly against Manchester City. He became more determined to find a defender of Mustafi’s status to beef up his injury prone back line.

The 24-year-old Mesut Ozil and Per Mertesacker helped Germany win the 2014 World Cup after making the squad as a late replacement. He scored his first international goal for Germany by putting the team ahead in their opening game against Ukraine at this summer’s European Championship.
