Association says Jukun/Tiv crises `hitting us hard’ seeks government’s intervention
Ukum Development Association has called on the Taraba Government to find lasting solutions to the incessant crises between Jukun and Tiv ethnic groups in the state.
Its President-General, Mr Joseph Akenawe, made the call while briefing newsmen on Friday in Makurdi.
Akenawe said that the incessant crises were “taking a harsh toll on both the economic and social activities of the state.”
He regretted that Jootar, a Benue border community with Taraba, was attacked on Wednesday, April 8, and three persons killed, and called for measures to end the violence.
Akenawe appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to take urgent steps to safeguard the peace and security of the area.
