The 80-year-old father of conjoined twins, who were recently separated at the Federal Medical Centre in Keffi, Nasarawa State, has described the children as gifts from God.
WuzupNigeria reports that Pa Ukpo Okaa, 80, had recently welcomed a set of twins by his 27-year-old wife, Tasara, at a hospital facility in Nasarawa State on April 4, 2019.
Their joy at the birth was, however, shortlived as the twins were found to be conjoined. This prompted doctors at the hospital to refer them to the FMC Keffi, where they were found to be joined at the abdomen and rib cage. It was also discovered that they shared a common liver, subcutaneous tissue and skin with fixed xiphisternum and cartilages of 10th and 11th ribs.
But following a 12-hour surgery last month, the twins – who are now 15 months old – were successfully separated.
Speaking at their presentation to the Minister of State for Education, Dr Olorunimbe Mamora, by a team of Medical Doctors at FMC in Keffi, the 80-year-old farmer disclosed he never took any sex-enhancing drugs to please his much younger wife in bed.
Speaking through an interpreter, Pa Okaa said:
“I’m proud to be a father of twins. I’m grateful to God, it’s not within my powers. My sexual powers come from God, it’s God that helps me to do that. Everybody has his own ability, I don’t take any sex-enhancing drugs. I’m still able to act and perform.
“There’s no secret of getting twins, they came from God, twins do not run in my family. There were financial challenges in taking care of the twins because I am a farmer. We thank the government for the assistance they have given us so far.
“We are very grateful to the FMC in Keffi, Nasarawa State, staff and everybody who were involved in the birth of these children and even till now. If not because of their assistance and God’s help, this day would not have been possible.”

Horrific video shows moment nanny beats baby
Parents have shared a video that captured moments a hired nanny was seen beating their baby because he woke up crying and the sight is really horrific.
The baby’s 26-year-old dad, Mr Tian, said he saw the childminder slap his child’s buttocks, feet and hands after watching security footage on his phone, according to police.
In a clip that has since gone viral on social media in China, the nanny, 50-year-old Wang Mou, appears to slap the crying baby’s thighs as he lies on the bed.
More videos, recorded between July 31 and August 1, show the nanny apparently slap the baby as he lies screaming in her arms. She is accused of hitting the child “like a toy”.
The footage was recorded in the parents’ home in the city of Shahe in northern China’s Hebei province.
Mr Tian’s wife uploaded the footage on the messaging platform WeChat where it was picked up and shared by influential Chinese bloggers and went viral on Weibo.
A police statement says that Mr Tian saw the footage for the first time on Saturday, August 1, at around 6pm and confronted the nanny the same day.
He then went to the nanny’s agency with his older brother and complained about the alleged mistreatment of his son.
The brothers were then said to have a “dispute” with Ms Wang outside the company and one of the brothers is alleged to have hit her car with a tool.
Ms Wang then became frightened and went to a hospital for treatment, police said.
Officers said they were carrying out further investigations. They noted that they were treating the incident as an administrative case.
Remains of missing 14-year-old boy found in crocodile’s stomach (Photos)
A 14-year-old boy who was reported missing has been found inside a crocodile’s stomach after he was pulled from a riverbank and dragged underwater by the reptile.
Teenager Ricky Ganya had been collecting snails with his family at a riverbank in Kuching, Malaysia on Friday when the crocodile leapt out of the water and towards him.
The 14-foot animal clamped its jaws around the boy’s foot and dragged him underwater, his aunt called for help and the emergency services arrived, but the boy was gone.
They used a chicken as bait to lure the crocodile back out of the water and it was trapped in a snare four days later.
Locals cut open the reptile’s stomach and found clothes belonging to Ricky as well as a number of human remains.
An officer from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Operations Center said:
“At about 9:15 am, the crocodile took the bait, a chicken, attached to a hook laid by a team at a spot about three miles away from where the boy was last seen.
“The crocodile was pulled onto the shore where its stomach was checked. “Sadly, there were human remains inside and these were identified as belonging to the missing teenager.”
The boy’s remains were taken home by the family for him to be given a funeral in their village.
