80-year old Ukpo Okaa and his 27-year old wife, Tasara Okaa, both from Udeke In Nasarawa Local Government Area.

The 80-year-old father of conjoined twins, who were recently separated at the Federal Medical Centre in Keffi, Nasarawa State, has described the children as gifts from God.

WuzupNigeria reports that Pa Ukpo Okaa, 80, had recently welcomed a set of twins by his 27-year-old wife, Tasara, at a hospital facility in Nasarawa State on April 4, 2019.

Their joy at the birth was, however, shortlived as the twins were found to be conjoined. This prompted doctors at the hospital to refer them to the FMC Keffi, where they were found to be joined at the abdomen and rib cage. It was also discovered that they shared a common liver, subcutaneous tissue and skin with fixed xiphisternum and cartilages of 10th and 11th ribs.

But following a 12-hour surgery last month, the twins – who are now 15 months old – were successfully separated.

Speaking at their presentation to the Minister of State for Education, Dr Olorunimbe Mamora, by a team of Medical Doctors at FMC in Keffi,  the 80-year-old farmer disclosed he never took any sex-enhancing drugs to please his much younger wife in bed.

Speaking through an interpreter, Pa Okaa said:

“I’m proud to be a father of twins. I’m grateful to God, it’s not within my powers. My sexual powers come from God, it’s God that helps me to do that. Everybody has his own ability, I don’t take any sex-enhancing drugs. I’m still able to act and perform.

“There’s no secret of getting twins, they came from God, twins do not run in my family. There were financial challenges in taking care of the twins because I am a farmer. We thank the government for the assistance they have given us so far.

“We are very grateful to the FMC in Keffi, Nasarawa State, staff and everybody who were involved in the birth of these children and even till now. If not because of their assistance and God’s help, this day would not have been possible.”
