The District Head of Gayari District of Gummi Local Government Area [LGA] in Zamfara State, Alhaji Hassan Mohammed, and his son were on Thursday night abducted by bandits.

WuzupNigeria gathered that the bandits arrived Gayari town at the middle of last night and went straight to the district head’s house where they kidnapped him and his son.

A witness, one Malam Abubakar Sani, who resides in the village, said neighbours attempted to rescue the victims but they were scared away by gunshots.

He described the sounds of the guns as those of AK 47 rifles.

Sani added that the bandits took away the district head and his two children on a motorcycle but one of the children fell off from the motorcycle and ran back home.

He said the incident as thrown the community into gloom as the district head is loved by everyone in the town due to his leadership qualities.

The police spokesperson, SP Mohammed Shehu, who spoke to our reporter on phone said the command was yet to receive the report from the police in that area, promising that he would speak on the issue when the data was available.
