ACCOUNTS ARE IMPERSONATING ME! Barely two months after joining Twitter, Otedola suspends his account

Published

Nigerian businessman and Chairman of Forte Oil Plc, Femi Otedola, has announced his withdrawal from popular social media platform, Twitter.

The oil magnate said that he will suspend activities on the platform till he is verified.

Otedola said accounts impersonating him have to have the word “parody” in their profile for Twitter to let them be.

Otedola wrote,

“Good day to the online community. Due to the fraudulent and disingenuous exploitation of my persona on this platform, tweets from me on this account are suspended forthwith until I am verified by Twitter. Thank you. F.Ote$”.

“Accounts impersonating me have to have the word “parody” in their profile for Twitter to let them be. Unfortunately, this has not been enough as people still fall for these accounts. Please do not be deceived”.

In a series of posts on his Twitter page, Otedola painstakingly gave pointers on how people can recognise his account.

He also released a press statement debunking false news making the round that Forte oil was taking responsibility for the recent Otedola bridge tanker explosion that killed twelve people and burnt over 54 vehicles last week.
