Bayelsa records 15th COVID-19 death
Bayelsa State has recorded another COVID-19 related death confirmed by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
Dr. Jones Stowe, Director of Public Health and a member of State COVID-19 Task Force added that 29 infections were also recorded in a statement on Thursday in Yenagoa,
The new death has brought the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 15 in the state.
Stowe explained that with the new cases, Bayelsa now has 234 COVID-19 confirmed cases.
“We have five new cases discharges and unfortunately, one new death recorded on Wednesday.
“The state now has a total of 234 confirmed cases of the deadly disease, 114 active cases and a total of 105 discharged persons,” the statement read.
Stowe, however, explained that the 29 new cases were the result of the last batch of the 300 samples sent to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) laboratory for testing.
The State Government had earlier stated that it had 300 pending samples for COVID-19 test in laboratories across the South-South with reagents and supplies leading to delays in returning results.
