Benin Republic Igbo leader donates N10m to Anambra communities

The Eze Ndigbo in Benin Republic, Dr Ebuka Onunkwo has donated N10m for food items to communities in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State.

He made the donation on behalf of his company, Seahorse Lubricants Industries Ltd.

He said the palliative was for corporate social responsibility of the company to the people.

He said the relief would help to cushion the harsh effects of the nationwide lockdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

While thanking God for giving him the
privilege to contribute to the good of mankind, Onunkwo said:

“These are tough times and many people, especially the needy and the vulnerable are going through economic hardship because of the nationwide lockdown

“I could only but rise up to the occasion and contribute my quota to ameliorate people’s woes.”

He tasked the Presidents- General of the town unions in the area and the representatives of the clergy to ensure that the initiative got to the primary targets.

It was gathered that a committee of eight persons had been set up from the communities to manage the money.

A member of the committee, Uchem Obi, told our correspondent that by consensus the committee had bought bags of rice and cartons of noodles for distribution to the communities in the area.

“Out of this quantity, 100 bags were independently alloyed to royal fathers, the clergy, and other stakeholders in the area.
