Boko Haram kills two frozen fish sellers, cart away their wares
Boko Haram has reportedly killed two persons sleeping overnight at a military checkpoint in Maiduguri, the capital city of Borno State.
WuzupNigeria gathered that the terrorists also carted away some of their wares, frozen fish.
According to a security source, who preferred anonymity, the truck which was bringing frozen fish from Kano got to the military checkpoint at Auno, an outskirt of Maiduguri, few minutes to the closure of the security gates but could not continue its journey into the town due to a mechanical fault.
The driver was advised by the military and security personnel at the checkpoint to leave the truck, a DAF with Yobe registration number PKM 665 X and proceed into town to sleep with the two other persons with him.
They were said to have rejected the advice and chose instead to sleep in the broken vehicle.
However, their chose turned out to be deadly after Boko Haram elements attacked the three at night, two died instantly but one was gasping for life when the men of the Rapid Response Squad arrived the scheme on Wednesday morning.
The corpses of the deceased were deposited at the hospital and the wounded was left to be treated at the emergency unit of the Borno State Specialist Hospital, Maiduguri.
The source said:
“That the RRS got an information at about 7am on Wednesday of Boko Haram attack. Information revealed that some armed men suspected to be insurgents intercepted a DAF truck with registration number Yobe PKM 665 X driven by one Yusuf Mohammed and a motor boy Abdullah Mohammed.
“They slept at the gate of Army checkpoint at Auno, which is normally locked up by 5pm. The insurgents came at night attacked the three people in the vehicle, two were slaughtered to death and one, Yusuf Abdulrahaman the slaughter and was still gasping for air this morning when the team from the RRS got the scene of the incident.”
He added,
“Abdulrahaman was rushed to the Borno State Specialist Hospital for treatment, the DAF truck which still contained some iced fish was towed to Auno for safe keeping and the corpse removed and deposited at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital Hospital (UMTH).”
