BREAKING: President Buhari honours late Abiola, declares June 12 democracy day
President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday announced that Democracy Day will henceforth be celebrated on June 12.
He said,
“Dear Nigerians, I am delighted to announce that, after due consultations, the Federal Government has decided that henceforth, June 12 will be celebrated as Democracy Day.”
The president also conferred a national honour of Grand Commander of the Federal Republic GCFR on the presumed winner of the June 12, 1993, presidential election, Late Bashorun MKO Abiola.
