Buhari, T.Y. Danjuma hold meeting
The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), and former Minister of Defence, General Theophilus Danjuma (retd.), are meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The agenda is unknown.
Danjuma is known to have heavily criticised the Buhari regime’s approach to tackling the conflicts between herdsmen and farmers in the country.
At a point in 2019, the former minister had called on Nigerians to defend themselves.
Danjuma previously chaired the Victims’ Support Fund set by the Federal Government to address humanitarian challenges in the Boko Haram-ravaged North-East.
The agenda of the meeting between the president and the visiting elder statesman, whose last visit to the State House was over three years ago, was unknown.
Danjuma also did not speak to State House correspondents on the outcome of his meeting with the president.
It was, however, gathered that the president and Danjuma may have deliberated on domestic and sub-regional issues bordering on security and socio-economic development in the country.
The president also met with the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Sen. Godswill Akpabio.
Akpabio also declined comment on the outcome of his meeting with the president.
